In my view, Acer is a good computer brand. It has many good qualities and it also has some bad ones too. With Acer, there are plenty of things to like straight off the bat. They have a wide range of computers; from small netbooks to giant gaming rigs with all kinds of optional upgrades in between these two extremes.
They do not have just one “type” of computer, which makes for much more variety to choose from. You can choose your monitor size and sometimes even what graphics card or processor you want to be installed already (although this usually comes at an additional cost).
Since there are different types with different options available you should be able to find one that suits your needs perfectly.
Another plus: Acer sells its parts as separate upgrades. You can buy the whole computer, or you can just order what you need by itself and put it into a pre-built computer from another brand (e.g., HP, Dell).
This allows for some additional customization options if you don’t want to pay for a whole new system — you could just upgrade parts that aren’t working well with the ones you already have.
How Good is Acer Service?
With so many different kinds of computers available, Acer is very good at customer satisfaction because they can provide anything a customer wants. The prices are average but not especially low either, which means that getting exactly what you want costs an average amount of money pretty consistently throughout all models.
I would say though that even though there aren’t any “cheap” computers in particular that you can get the whole thing for “almost not at all” but there are lots of cheaper computers if you don’t mind compromising on performance or features.
This is great for people who want high quality and “an average amount” of money. It’s about as good as the best thing they offer, which means that it has to be more than just decent in order to sell well.
And since their customer service is so great because they have a lot of options most people should feel comfortable buying from them even purchasing things online where the risk of getting ripped off is always present (because when something goes wrong with your other computer parts — and it will eventually — you can send it back and they will easily fix it).
What is Bad About Acer?
Even though Acer is good, it is also very bad in some ways. People have complained that there are no full-service stores or where you can bring your computer into and expect to get all of your problems resolved.
There’s not a lot of help for people who don’t know exactly what they’re doing, since the support lines at Acer aren’t too helpful without having enough personal information about your particular issue.
So if you’re someone who asks “how do I fix this problem on my Acronis disk?” they aren’t going to be able to answer without giving you long lists of instructions or forcing you to come down and meet with them in person.
This means that Acer isn’t great for brand loyalty — it might be because the employees are so professionally trained or because they are so experienced in troubleshooting. Whatever it is, they just don’t get the job done if you aren’t adequately prepared for whichever situation your computer has gotten into.
How is Acer Warranty?
Acer also only offers one type of warranty on their parts, and that warranty only lasts a year (not including accidental damage).
This means that after about 12 months your replacement part will stop working and you need to figure out what went wrong with it by yourself.
There’s no help from Acer until then, which can be very difficult for people who have never had to do this before since there’s no real information or instructions for dealing with computers when something happened pretty much immediately after getting them.
Is Acer Better Than Asus?
If you want to take a detailed look at Acer and Asus, be sure to read our article on Acer vs Asus where we compare the two brands head to head to see which one is better.
If I were looking for new computer parts and I had a computer in mind, then Acer might be the brand for you. They have a lot of options to choose from so no matter what kind of computer or operating system you want it should work out fine as long as you don’t mind paying an average price (which can get cheaper if you just order parts separately).
You’re going to have to pay for premium customer service though. They won’t help unless they absolutely must, since their main goal is making sure that all of their products are compatible with one another before being shipped out.
If I wanted to make my own computer and design it to perfectly fit my needs then I would look elsewhere. While there are different kinds of computers available there’s only one warranty option and only one kind of customer service.
The long warranty time period does make up for that though, and it’s not too bad for a first-time PC builder who wants to see how everything works together before doing anything permanent or expensive.
If you’re someone who just wants the cheapest price on parts and is willing to take risks with your computer then Acer probably isn’t the brand for you. They don’t have anything under 20 dollars, and what they have will never be “enough” — what I mean by that is if something breaks then there’s no way to get far enough in your troubleshooting process without paying at least $150 (for example) just so they can help you out.
If you’re thinking about building your own computer then $150 is probably too much to spend or else you would already have built your own computer, and if you’re looking for a cheap computer then $800-$1000 just isn’t worth it.
All in all, Acer is good but there could be some improvements made to their business model — defaulting every product to “brand new” instead of “refurbished” would help people who are unfamiliar with computers feel less at risk when they buy things online.
It also wouldn’t hurt them to cut down on the number of options that they have. They really don’t need twenty different types of CPU processors, since most PCs (being used by amateurs) run into trouble within the first couple of months anyway. Anything more than three options should be sufficient.
